The coffee team consist of two guys who serve the men over the weekend in a way they may have never been served before.  The hands of the coffee team provide 1,000s of cups of coffee and tea for the men during the weekend.

Although it's a long weekend, serving from 9am on Friday and through noon on Sunday, you will be a blessing with every cup served just they way the Brothers and other team members request.  Serving them with joy, humor, humility and a big smile can make the difference in someone's experience at Souly Business.

The primary responsibility of the coffee team to ensure the a steady flow of coffee and tea service for the entire weekend. 

The coffee team is mostly self-led solving many problems and insuring there is always coffee available.

The coffee team reports to the HMS (head meal servant) for general direction and scheduling.

  • Be Prepared to Serve

    • As with the other roles at Souly, please have your work related matters finished and keep your cell phone in your car or hidden from Brothers.
    • Arrive at the camp to allow you to check into your cabin, claim a bunk and be in the kitchen at the requested arrival time.
    • Wear comfortable clothes.
      • You will spend most of your time in the conference area on concrete floor, so comfortable clothes and shoes with support is a must.
      • Flip Flops are considered a safety hazard in any kitchen or food service environment.
  • Be Food Safety-Aware

    • Food service safety is the most important part of any activity in or around food.
    • Be part of the team, be clean !!!
  • Help get things ready for the weekend

    • Coffee team will assist in the equipment logistics to get all items identified and in their proper places.
    • Coffee team will assist in the overall setup of the kitchen area as in regards to the coffee requirement.
  • Deliver on Coffee Basics

    • The coffee team is responsible for their area in the conference room space.
    • Set up / Clean up
    • Supplies
    • Organization
    • Coffee should be abundantly available when the brothers are scheduled to start arriving.
    • Decaf coffee should be available at ALL times.
    • Morning coffee will be in the dining hall.
    • At the end of the evening, the coffee team should have all pots ready to perculate when the kitchen team arrives at 5am.
    • The Coffee team should be present at least an hour before breakfast.
    • After breakfast coffee will only be available in the conference room area.
  • Take-Down of Coffee Station

    • Coffee service will stop approximately 2 hours prior to end of the weekend.
    • Coffee team members are responsible for getting all of their equipment returned to the kitchen team for final cleaning and storage

How to Serve

Even though you are working hard, receiving God’s grace is the heart and soul of the kitchen team. As your heart is full, you can then give from a full heart.

  • Attitudes that are vital to a great weekend in the kitchen

    • As much as possible, leave all other activities and communication behind... "back home."  Take this time for yourself to serve God.
    • We are here to serve in humility and with a joyful countenance.
    • Go out of your way to make the men feel welcome.
    • Ask the Lord to show His love through you.
  • Spiritual Development

    • The coffee guys will spend their entire weekend surrounded by other servants and in touch with all of the Brothers.
    • The coffee guys are encouraged to sit and listen to as many talks as possible.
    • Begin part of a spiritual team is an mountain top experience where new relationships are born and spirits are lifted.
